I seldom use a 153 tooth flexplate because I feel that the 168 tooth flexplate (or flywheel) can turn the engine over better (more power but less speed). I used to buy high torque stock GM starters until I bought our first high torque mini starter off of Ebay for about $85 shipped to my door!
