WebDraper, Henry. Draper, Henry (1837-1882) was an American astronomer. He was also an early astronomical photographer. In September, 1880, Draper took the first photograph of a distant astronomical object (the Orion Nebula). He also studied stellar spectra and was the first person to photograph stellar spectral lines.
